The Picnic House Presents:
A Christmas Carol: A One-Man Ghost Story
For the sixth time in seven years, Phillip J. Berns's one-man telling of Charles Dickens' Holiday favorite returns to The Picnic House for three showings (Dec. 3, Dec. 10, & Dec. 17). With atmospheric music by the inimitable Christopher Beatty, Berns' simple story-telling based approach makes this performance an instant Holiday tradition for young and old alike.
The performance is held in The Picnic House's nearly century-old Grand Room and includes a traditional three-course English Christmas dinner prepared by Executive Chef Jessica Grimmer, as well as a glass of champagne or sparkling cider and a selection of hors d'oeuvres during the preceding cocktail hour (5:00-5:45PM). Gratuity included.
Doors: 5PM at Barlow Artisanal Bar Entrance (737 SW Salmon)
GHOSTS OF REVIEWS PAST:
"From playing Tiny Tim to reciting the whole show off-book, Phillip Berns relishes the role(s) he's grown into—most notably, narrator." - Oregon ArtsWatch
"But it's Berns' acting chops that are most impressive. The sheer complexity of memorizing pages of Victorian London dialect is an accomplishment on its own, and his zealous portrayal of an endless procession of personalities is what makes the interpretation both endearing and innovative." -Willamette Week
"THIS. This show. Moreover this format, is all we want of A Christmas Carol." -Rusty Tennant
"Phillip’s command of his characters, and the simple way that they are presented, gives a natural flow to the story." -Dennis Sparks
